Politics is COOKED.

I’m Bennett Rea, the home-chef, political nerd and regular-human-who-eats-any-food behind Cookin’ with Congress, the series and blog I started in 2018 that went viral in 2024 (overnight success). It’s been featured on NPR’s Weekend Edition, NBC Los Angeles and in the Los Angeles Times, with 400,000+ followers and 150 million+ and one time I ate frozen mayonnaise for this project and it was really upsetting. That’s my super weird résumé.

Whether you love the historical recipes like Thomas Jefferson’s Drunken Loaf or the new horrors like Mark Warner’s Tuna Melt — if you love the true “Theater of Disgust” recipes like Richard Nixon’s Ham Mousse or if you’re curious about how to make these nasty dishes into delicious meals worthy of your time — no matter what you like about Cookin’ with Congress, you’re going to find more of it here in this monthly newsletter. Videos, musings, stories, recipes, recaps, news and behind-the-scenes looks at the show.

Thanks for being here and having fun at politicians’ expense.
